With a string inverter, panels are wired in a chain: the weakest module drags the whole series down. A heat spike, a bit of shade, some dirt on a single panel, and the entire row drops with it. Domino effect.

If one underperforms due to high heat, its microinverter switches to “degraded” mode, lowering conversion power to prevent damage, while the other panels keep producing at full capacity.
