APsystems: The Original Multi-Module Microinverter (M3™) Pioneer

In the landscape of solar innovation, APsystems stands out not just as a participant, but as the trailblazer that set the course for others to follow. Founded in the tech cradle of Silicon Valley in 2010, APsystems introduced the world to the concept of multi-module microinverters (M3), a revolutionary step that redefined solar power conversion efficiency and scalability.

Setting the Standard in Solar Technology

Before APsystems’ groundbreaking introduction of M3 microinverters, the industry standard was limited to single-module microinverters. By expanding the capability to serve 2 to 8 PV modules simultaneously, APsystems didn’t just innovate; it created a whole new paradigm in solar technology. This visionary approach has since become the blueprint for the industry, with every new entrant looking to the model established by APsystems as the gold standard.

A Legacy of Leadership and Innovation

APsystems’ journey from a Silicon Valley startup to a global solar leader is marked by a series of pioneering achievements. With over 5GW of solar power conversion devices shipped worldwide, including approximately 4 million microinverters, APsystems has played a pivotal role in connecting more than 15 million solar panels across the globe. This vast network is a testament to the trust and reliability that the brand has cultivated over the years.

The Imitation Game: A Sign of True Leadership

The sincerest form of flattery in the business world comes through imitation. As the original manufacturer of M3 microinverters, APsystems has seen its innovative approach replicated by others in the industry. This trend underscores APsystems’ position at the forefront of solar technology, where being the first has set a benchmark that others strive to emulate. However, while imitation may be inevitable, the pioneering spirit and continued innovation of APsystems remain unmatched.

Beyond Firsts: A Commitment to Excellence and Sustainability

APsystems’ legacy is not just about being the first; it’s about continuously pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in solar technology. The company’s equipment has generated over 4.5 TWh (four trillion watt-hours) of clean, renewable energy, contributing significantly to global sustainability efforts. Selling into more than 100 countries, APsystems’ global impact is a reflection of its commitment to providing reliable, efficient, and innovative solar solutions.

Choose the Original, Choose APsystems

In a world where the distinction between the original and the imitator can be blurred, APsystems stands out for its authenticity, innovation, and leadership in the solar industry. By choosing APsystems, customers are not just selecting a product; they are investing in a legacy of pioneering achievements and a future of sustainable energy solutions.

As we continue to lead the solar revolution, we invite you to join us in embracing the power of the sun with APsystems, where innovation meets sustainability. Together, we’ll build a greener future powered by the original multi-module microinverter (M3) technology that continues to set the standard in solar energy conversion.

TEDDY Talks Installer Tip: If your microinverter won't connect to the Y Bus Cable, the solution may be simpler than you think!
The APsystems Y Bus Cable ships with a protective safety cap installed to help keep connections protected before installation. If you're having trouble making a connection, take a quick look and make sure the cap has been removed before plugging in your microinverter.
It's a small detail that can save time on the roof and help keep your installation moving smoothly.

One size doesn't fit every state.
As plug-in solar regulations continue to evolve across the U.S., flexibility matters. The APsystems EZ1 lets users adjust maximum output power directly through the AP EasyPower app, making it easier to align with local requirements. Need additional control? Pair it with the APmeter for smart zero-export operation.
Why does that matter? States like Maine are creating new pathways for plug-in solar, allowing systems up to 420W AC—or up to 1200W AC when installed by a licensed electrician. EZ1 gives users the flexibility to adapt to local requirements without replacing equipment.
Have questions about plug-in solar regulations, system sizing, zero export, or EZ1 setup? Check out the FAQ section on our EZ1 pages for answers to some of the most common questions we receive.

Team Spotlight: Meet Kenneth Clem, Business Development Manager Texas & Southeast
For Kenneth Clem, solar started with a simple idea: growing up in the countryside, he learned how to do just about everything himself—except produce electricity.
That realization sparked a career that has now spanned 15 years across renewable energy. Kenneth began in the wind industry before making the switch to solar, drawn by the opportunity to help people generate power for themselves and their families.
What keeps him passionate about the industry is the people. Whether he's supporting installers, helping businesses grow, or building long-term relationships, Kenneth is dedicated to helping others succeed and making renewable energy more accessible.
Covering Texas and the Southeast, Kenneth brings years of experience, a customer-first mindset, and a genuine commitment to helping partners achieve their goals.
Outside of work, you'll likely find him at a local sushi restaurant or shooting pool while meeting new people and enjoying good conversation.

🇨🇦 Solar YYC Brings Award-Winning Solar Innovation to Its Calgary Headquarters
Solar YYC transformed its Calgary, Alberta headquarters into a living showcase for renewable energy, earning top honors in the Commercial category of the 2025 APsystems Canadian Project of the Year Awards.
The 16 kW DC solar awning features 40 south-facing modules that not only generate clean energy but also provide window shading and enhanced comfort for the building's occupants. Designed, engineered, and installed entirely by Solar YYC's in-house team, the project demonstrates how sustainability and architectural design can work hand in hand.
To bring the vision to life, Solar YYC selected APsystems QT2-208 microinverters.
"The size limitations of three-phase string inverters made the QT2 a perfect solution for this smaller array," the team shared. "It allows for optimal performance for the modules located on the west side of the building while giving clients the opportunity to see a microinverter system in action."
By making the microinverters visible beneath the solar awning, the installation doubles as an educational experience, giving visitors a firsthand look at the technology powering the system.

EZ1 VOICES: NAZ PART 2: EXPANDING PLUG-IN SOLAR WITH THE APSYSTEMS EZ1
Our certified EZ1 distributor, NAZ Solar Electric, is back to show how easy it is to expand a plug-in solar system with the APsystems EZ1.
After demonstrating how simple it is to get started with two panels and one microinverter, they take the next step by growing the system into a four-panel installation powered by two EZ1s.
The project highlights one of the biggest advantages of plug-in solar: scalability. Homeowners can start with a smaller system and easily add capacity as their energy needs grow.
As NAZ puts it: "By adding more solar capacity, we can reach our maximum output sooner and maintain it longer throughout the day."
The video also covers practical installation considerations and how the APsystems monitoring app can be used to adjust system output where local plug-in solar limits apply.
Ready to build or expand your own plug-in solar system? Visit NAZ Solar Electric to shop the APsystems EZ1: https://www.solar-electric.com/search/?q=ez1
