Hansen Solar Affordable Housing
Charlottetown-based Hansen Solar Energy, led by General Manager Shaun Callaghan, was recognized in the 2024 APsystems Canadian Installation Awards for their work on a nonprofit affordable housing project on Bills Lane. The 82.35 kWh system helps residents reduce utility bills while promoting sustainability. “We have access to multiple ECUs and units under one account, which helps us monitor and manage the systems with precision,” Callaghan said. This visibility maximized system output, reflecting Hansen Solar Energy’s commitment to community-first solutions and thoughtful design.
APsystems DS3 microinverters were central to the project’s success, offering flexibility, affordability, and ease of integration. “The support from APsystems was great throughout the process,” Callaghan shared. “It’s helped us not only deliver a reliable system, but also show stakeholders the performance and savings in real time.” The plug-and-play design streamlined installation and enabled scalable management, making it ideal for a nonprofit setting. Community response has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting both the financial and environmental impact. Hansen Solar Energy’s project demonstrates how reliable technology, careful planning, and a focus on community value can transform solar installations into lasting benefits for residents.
