EZ1 VOICES: Simple Garage-Based EZ1 Plug-In Solar Setup
With more than 30 years of solar PV experience, this longtime solar enthusiast put together a straightforward plug-in solar project using the APsystems EZ1 and a set of repurposed SolarWorld modules.
The installation uses four 235W SolarWorld panels positioned against a garage wall, with two modules wired in parallel per input and connected directly to the EZ1 microinverter. The inverter itself is mounted inside the garage and connected to the home using a heavy-duty 100-foot extension cord running to a basement outlet.
Already operating successfully, the system is helping offset household energy usage while occasionally feeding small amounts of excess energy back to the grid. According to the customer, the majority of the production is being consumed onsite by everyday household loads.
Beyond the installation itself, the project reflects the growing interest in flexible, accessible plug-in solar systems among experienced solar users and DIY energy enthusiasts alike.
