EZ1 VOICES: Retired Solar Professional Explores Plug-In Solar
After more than 30 years working in solar and energy storage, this retired installer and operations manager decided to explore the growing balcony and plug-in solar movement firsthand using the APsystems EZ1.
With experience across a wide range of inverter, storage, and racking platforms, including SolarEdge, Enphase, EG4, Sungrow, Growatt, and others, the customer wanted a simple system to experiment with in a real-world environment.
The installation features a 395W Hyundai bifacial module mounted due south above a raised garden bed using a VEVOR adjustable tilt mount set at 45 degrees and connected to the EZ1 plug-in microinverter. The setup functions as a small agrivoltaic-style installation, helping provide both solar production and shading benefits for the plants below.
Despite the simple setup, the system quickly delivered solid production results, peaking at 354W and producing around 2 kWh in a single day.
βI got the EZ1 on a whim to play with. The app was easy to set up, and the system peaked at 354 watts producing around 2 kWh. Simple.β
This project highlights the flexibility of the APsystems EZ1 for experimentation, gardening applications, balcony solar concepts, and creative DIY energy projects.
