Matt Makes Solar EZ. Ask Matt.

What happens to the EZ1 during a power outage?

The short answer: it shuts down, just like it should.

The EZ1 meets UL 1741 SB requirements and includes anti-islanding protection. If the utility grid goes down, the EZ1 automatically stops producing power—helping prevent electricity from backfeeding onto utility lines and protecting the crews working to restore power.

Once utility power returns and the required five-minute safety period is complete, the EZ1 automatically starts producing again.
